If you are looking for the most efficient windows available on the market, then triple glazing is the choice for you.
Triple glazing uses the same technology as double glazing – trapping dense gas between glass panes to limit heat transfer – but it uses an extra pane of glass and an extra pocket of trapped gas. This enhances heat retention even more than double glazing and makes sure none of the outside cold enters your home.
We are proud to be at the forefront of the industry, providing the most innovative products and bringing them into your home, such as triple glazing. Whether it is heat generated by the sun or heat that has been created indoors, the extra pane in our windows helps to maintain that heat and maximise energy efficiency.
Triple glazing is widely used in colder parts of the world, such as Norway and Sweden, because of its ability to preserve heat, not to mention it also helps to reduce outside noise pollution.
By installing triple glazing, you will make significant savings on your heating bills, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. We offer triple glazing in a variety of different window frame materials and finishes so you can make your home both more energy efficient and more beautiful.

Does triple glazing make a difference?
Just as double glazing is more insulative than single glazing, triple glazing is an improvement on double glazing.
You can look at the U-value of different materials to tell you how good they are at insulating. Less heat is lost when a material has a lower U-value, and more heat is lost when a material has a higher U-value. A double glazed window has a U-value of 1.2 and triple glazing is half that at 0.6. To put this into perspective, a brick wall has a U-value of 2.0.
You should save money on your heating bills with either double or triple glazing as they both effectively trap heat inside your home. However, other things such as draughts can reduce the energy efficiency of your home, so you might want to fix these issues if you’re serious about saving on your heating bills. Triple glazing is more expensive than double glazing, so you don’t want your efforts to go to waste if you’re making an investment.
How long does triple glazing last?
At AGS, all our triple glazed windows have a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee, but they’re likely to function perfectly well for 20 – 35 years. As they get older you might notice some degradation of their insulative properties, but not to a significant degree. Just make sure you take care of your windows by wiping them down when they’re dirty and remember to clean debris from the frames on a regular basis.
Although factors such as the weather and the area you live will impact the longevity of your glazed windows, keep your windows well maintained and they’ll last for decades.
Is it worth replacing double glazing for triple glazing?
Although triple glazing is more insulative than double glazing, lots of homes in the UK don’t need it. Colder Scandinavian countries where residents endure severe winters generally install triple glazing as standard. However, as we don’t normally face these sorts of conditions in the UK, double glazing is usually sufficient. If you live in an urban area and have recently fitted double glazing, switching to triple glazing might not make a noticeable difference.
This being said, if your window glazing is getting old and you live in a rural area where the temperatures drop sharply during the winter nights, you might want to consider getting triple glazing. It can be a great investment, help you save on heating costs, and can even add value to your property.
What is the difference between double and triple glazing?
Double glazing consists of two layers of glass separated by an air gap. This air gap is filled with argon — a dense gas that prevents cold from travelling between the two panes of glass.
Triple glazed windows work in the same way, but contain another pane of glass and another air gap filled with argon. This makes them thicker and means they can provide more insulation.
Triple glazing is more expensive than double glazing because of the extra material used. However, if it improves the energy efficiency of your home, you might find yourself saving on energy bills.
