Perfect for all homes our casement windows are a versatile and visually stunning option. Our windows are attached to a frame using one or more hinges and can be top hung or side hung and can open inwards or outwards.
Side hung windows are a great option for those who require lots of ventilation and the windows can be angled slightly to catch a breeze. Alternatively top hung windows have hinges at the top of the frame so open from the bottom meaning that, as a result, they keep rain out if the windows are open.

What is a casement window?
Casement windows are a great way to let air and light into your house. How do they work? They’re attached to a frame by one or more hinges, allowing you to open them with a manual or automatic crank mechanism.
They normally have a side hinge (the most common attachment), but you can also get top hung windows (otherwise known as awning casement windows). A top hung window is hinged at the top so it easily blocks out rain. This means you can have your windows ajar, even when it’s drizzling outside. For basements, a bottom hung casement window might be preferable.
Opt for either single or paired windows fitted within one frame.
Are casement windows more energy efficient?
Closed casement windows are highly effective at stopping cold air from entering your home. An airtight seal is created by the window sash pressing against the frame when closed, so warmth also has a hard time escaping.
You can expect to spend less on your energy bills because of this insulation. Your house should also feel warmer for longer after you’ve had the heating on.
If you are very concerned about energy efficiency, you might be interested in triple glazed windows. This extra glazing also helps to block out noise from outside — handy if this is an issue in your area!
What is the difference between a casement window and a picture window?
Your casement windows aren’t fixed — they’re meant to be opened. Depending on which opening you choose, they’ll be able to swing either inwards or outwards. They are generally small and have multiple panes or sashes.
Picture windows, on the other hand, are fixed — they’re not designed to open and close. Instead, they have very few panes so you’re able to see a stunning panoramic view of your outside space without obstruction.
Are casement windows safe?
Casement windows should easily keep you and your home safe if anyone tries to break in. They have special hook-shaped locks that insert directly into the frame of the window so if intruders try to pry them open from the outside, any success would be a great feat.
Their multi-locking system also improves security and is an excellent asset.
We are proud to say that our casement windows are covered by the Official Police Security Initiative, making them even safer. This means that you can enjoy your casement windows, knowing that they have been designed to keep your home safe.
How much do casement windows cost?
There is no set cost for casement windows. You’ll find that prices can vary greatly.
Cost factors include the window material, the amount of work that needs doing to fit the window, and the time the whole process will take. PVCu is the cheapest material for your casement windows, and a finish such as timber or aluminium will usually cost more.
If you just want to replace an old casement window, this will cost less than installing a new set of casement windows from scratch. Installing an entire set of casement windows would require extra labour, so this is taken into consideration when pricing up the service.
It can be difficult to estimate the cost of casement windows. If you contact us we’ll give you a free no obligation quote.
Are casement windows worth it?
Casement windows can bring many benefits to your home. Not only do they let light and air into a room, creating a bright, fresh feel, they are also excellent insulators thanks to their compression seal technology, which allows you to save on your heating bills.
If you have a disability or limited mobility, casement windows are an effective window solution. You use a crank mechanism to open and close these windows, so little effort is required on your part.
